So I took a break from the Mecha project I've been working on to do this experiment.
It was prompted by nosing around the Angels Fall First universe website [link]
and appreciating what they do with low polygon models and superb texture mapping.
So I slapped together this ultra-low polygon (244) model, and then decided to see what I could do with texture mapping. I'm fairly happy with the results I was able to achieve.

I altered the color scheme a bit and composited them witht he renders in openCanvas.
